... autumn style

Seen as autumn is on its way I have been looking for some new things to update my autumn wardroble. I am loving this dress by Matthew Williamson.

What has happened to the weather? I am freezing! Summer seems to definitely have ended now and winter is on its way. These gorgeous throws will keep us warm and toasty through the cold months though. Find them here and here at Cox & Cox.

... make your own

I looked everywhere for a corsage/flower to go with my favourite pink shoes but had no luck. I had a gorgeous silk scarf in the same colour as my shoes so I decided to make my own. I found my inspiration from Burda Style by doing a search on the Internet. I must admit I did it a very lazy way, spinning the scarf tightly then wrapping it around itself, adding a few stitches to hold it in place and used 2 safety pins to fix it onto my dress. Above is the result, I love the fact that the scarf already had beads on so I used them as the middle. Its amazing what you can do in half an hour!

... to the bottom of the garden

We are currently re-doing our lawn in the back garden. We have had our house for 4 years now but the garden has been left till last. It is, or should I say was, a very mature garden with overgrown bushes, shrubs and trees. We want to make it easy to maintain with just a big lawn at the back so we have been working on it on and off for 2 years. All the bushes, shrubs and trees have been dug out and this summer we are hoping to get the lawn laid. We have borrowed a rotivator and are spending as much as our time as we can (in between the rain!) to get it ready for seeding.

This was the garden at the start of the project ..

... then this ...

... and this is how it is today, we were rained off! Typical North West British weather. I cannot wait till next summer when I will have a lovely lushes lawn for picnicking.

... yum!

Mustard Mash is one of my favourites. Just add a dollop of wholegrain mustard to your potato's before mashing. Goes great with sausage casserole - yummy!

... cheese!

Loving these photo ideas, especially the frame! There are so many old flaboyant frames to be found that can be painted up. I am also liking the props on sticks which are so easy to make. The next party I have I will be having a little photo booth area complete with props, frames and chalk boards.

... playbill style

I love old vintage posters and the typefaces used. I have a thing about typefaces as I may have mentioned before and I love designs just using text. I saw an invitation inspired by old circus playbills which looked fabulous. I think old playbill style invites may be my next project.

... Bold & Noble

Bold & Noble have managed to combine two of my favourite things - Typefaces and maps! I love these prints and they are reasonably priced too. Looking closely the map prints are made up of the names of all the cities, just brilliant. Check out more of their prints on their webiste

... and make lemonade

This is one of my favourite life motto's. Telling you to turn a bad situation into something good and think outside the box. And that good things can come out of bad situations.
